Youth in posh attire attempts suicide in Maheshtala, is a resident of Manicktala

A man in his thirties tried to commit suicide by jumping from a five-storey building in South 24 Parganas Maheshtala area. The person, identified as Sheikh Ashiq Iqbal, jumped from Eden Apartment located at Bata More in Ward Number 28. Witnesses said that judging by the clothes, the man looked from a posh background. However, none of the residents recognized him.

Soon after the incident, the police of Maheshtala police station reached the spot and took the seriously injured person to Vidyasagar Hospital in Behala for treatment. Currently, the investigating officials of Maheshtala police station are trying to investigate the incident by looking at the CCTV footage.

SDPO Kamruddin Mollah and Additional Superintendent of Police Amlan Kusum Ghosh have already reached the spot. Maheshtala police recovered two expensive mobile phones, a leather bag, and a pair of shoes from the roof of the residence. According to the card found in the bag, the man's house is in Manicktala.

According to the residents of Eden Apartment, at the time of the incident, several people were having a meeting in an empty flat on the fourth floor. However, they are not sure whether this young man was present in that meeting. For now, Maheshtala police have detained several people who were present in that meeting for questioning.
